Special Message from Superintendent Linda Henke

Dear MRH community,

For the past twelve years I have had the pleasure of serving as the superintendent of Maplewood Richmond Heights. It has been an amazingly fulfilling experience, and so it is with mixed feelings that I announce my retirement on June 30. In truth, I never planned on being a superintendent—it always seemed too far away from students and teachers.  But at MRH I have had the opportunity to work closely with truly gifted teachers and fabulous students. This experience has been a wonderful gift that I will always treasure.

I want to thank this Board of Education and all of the members of the board over the past twelve years. They are a fearless group of community leaders who have transformed obstacles into successes with their courage, creativity, and teamwork.

I leave MRH with great confidence in the leaders who will step into new roles.  Karen Hall has been our assistant superintendent for four years, and is one of the most talented administrators with whom I have ever worked.  She is passionate about MRH and the unique education we provide.  Under her leadership, MRH will continue to innovate and push the boundaries of conventional understandings of school.  Roxanna Meacham will serve as our new assistant superintendent, and is without a doubt one of the best curriculum thinkers I have ever met.  These two have a terrific team of administrators with whom to work.  They are all big thinkers who approach their work with creative energy and determination.

I have loved my work here at MRH, loved the community and its commitment to their children. I have agreed to help the district for a year as we make the transition, and I look forward to that work.

My thanks to all of you for the support you have given to us in our work over the past twelve years.  We are what we are because of your investment in our schools.

Dr. Linda Henke
