Is my child gifted?
Maybe this question has crossed your mind. The answer is not an easy one. And while every child has gifts, not every child is gifted. There are many different definitions and philosophies of giftedness. Here at MRH, we have an academically gifted program for our students. We begin screening and testing for our gifted program, known as E4 (which stands for enrichment, exhibits, expeditions, and extension) at the end of first grade. Then, gifted services and programs start at the beginning of second grade at MRHE. Students who have met certain criteria on standardized tests, creativity tests, and IQ tests are then pulled out of their regular classroom during the school day for academic enrichment and extension with a teacher who is trained in Gifted Education. If you have further questions about giftedness or our E4 program, feel free to contact Stephanie Sausele by email: email@example.com
Gifted Resource Council
The Gifted Resource Council offers Saturday learning labs that appeal to a variety of interests. Classes are offered for children as young as 3 years old. Students 1st grade age and younger do not need to be "gifted" to participate.
What is Learning Lab?
Learning Lab is enrichment classes for bright and talented students from pre-school through eighth grade. Classes are held on six Saturday mornings and afternoons twice yearly in the Fall and Winter. You can find more information about the Fall Learning Labs here.
Interested in volunteering in the ECC Library?
Our library is run by parent/family/friend volunteers, and all kindergarten and 1st grade classes have the opportunity to visit the library for read alouds and to check out books. Volunteers are welcome to come in one time or regularly.
