Preschool Anticipated to Reopen on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

Dear Preschool Parents,

We have been working diligently this week with our cleanup and reconstruction crews to address the many issues caused by the burst water pipe in the Preschool area. Unfortunately, many schools and businesses across the region are also experiencing these consequences from water damage.

Now that we’ve been able to fully dry out the area and assess the damage, we have a better idea of the reconstruction that has to be done to ensure the area is back to normal for our students and staff. Due to the holidays and the extra time needed by the contractors to replace flooring and drywall, remove the built-in cabinets and shelving, and ensure no moisture, mold, or other allergens are present, we do not anticipate being able to resume all Preschool classes until Tuesday, January 17.

Katie Nauman's half day preschool classes, Stacey Schwab and Hannah Tamaren's Team Taught classroom, Hannah Tamaren's PM classroom, and Ashley Joern's AM and PM classes will however resume on Tuesday, January 3, as their Home Spaces were unaffected by the water damage.

We know the tremendous issues and challenges this poses for our families and we will try to do everything in our power to get the reconstruction done as quickly and efficiently as possible. Children not attending classes during this period will have their tuition fees amended.

All families should find alternate care during this period. If you have a hardship and are unable to make other arrangements, please call Peggy Russell in the ECC Preschool Office at (314) 256-4550. On Tuesday, January 3, ECC staff will be contacting families who have indicated a hardship. We will do our best to accommodate hardship needs by placing children in other areas at the ECC. These limited arrangements would be available beginning on January 4.  Again, because these spots will be extremely limited, we encourage all families to make alternate childcare plans.

We know this is a significant strain on our families and please be assured  that we are doing everything in our power to be back in school as quickly as possible. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we continue to work through this unforeseen and unfortunate situation.

Principal, ECC
