MRH Elementary Sixth Graders Participate in Saint Louis Art Fair
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. - Pablo Picasso
MRH Elementary sixth graders are seizing the opportunity to showcase their artistic talent, while at the same time earning money toward their upcoming Capstone Experience in Chicago.
The Saint Louis Art Fair, presented by Sterling Bank and hosted by the city of Clayton, has been rated one of the top five art events throughout the United States by American Style magazine. Just over 20 students from the St. Louis area, many from MRH, have been invited to sell their work along-side artists from around the world. This part of the Saint Louis Art Fair event, known as Create. A Young Artist’s Fair, is an "inspiring way for youth to express themselves visually,” states their webpage.
“These sixth graders have been working extremely hard and have dedicated their time during art class, free time, at home and after school,” shares MRH Elementary Art Teacher Sally Saldana. “Their artwork will range from mixed media, watercolor, collage, oil pastel, paint and photography.”
The Create event is set for September 8-9 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Students will be located at South Central and Carondelet Avenue under a large white tent. All proceeds from sixth grade art sales will benefit this year’s Capstone trip.
Please join us in celebrating their accomplishments and dedication toward the arts!
