Special Message from the MRH Board of Education

Dear district families:

The Maplewood Richmond Heights Board of Education is officially announcing the retirement of our Superintendent, Dr. Linda Henke, effective June 30, 2012. Dr. Henke will continue to lead the district through the remainder of the 2011-2012 academic year.

The Maplewood and Richmond Heights communities have benefited tremendously from Dr. Henke’s vision and leadership for the past 12 years. She has helped transform our once struggling district into one that is respected regionally and nationally for innovation and performance. Dr. Henke has made a powerful impact on the lives of many children and certainly will be missed by the district families, faculty and community.

Because the Board of Education is truly committed to continuing the many strengths that have been cultivated in our schools during the past 12 years, we are proud to announce that Mrs. Karen Hall has accepted the position as our new superintendent. We hired Karen four years ago as our assistant superintendent with confidence that she could become our next leader at MRH. Karen has been an integral component of our successes here at MRH and has helped in the building of a strong foundation for our school district.
Roxanna Mechem, current MRH Middle School instructional specialist, will replace Karen Hall as assistant superintendent. Mrs. Mechem started with MRH in August 2011 and was formerly with the Rockwood and Union School Districts. Roxanna brings vast experience to MRH, including curriculum coordinator, instructional coach and assessment director.

We are confident that we will experience a smooth leadership transition and continue on our path of excellence for our school district. The future is certainly bright for our wonderful students, caring teachers, and strong leaders.

Sincerely,
Maria Langston
President, MRH Board of Education
