1,500 Cans of Food Collected

Student & Staff participate in "Hoops for Hunger" In the final days of school before Thanksgiving Break Middle school students participated in the 9th Annual Hoops of Hunger extravaganza. Students pulled through and reached and then surpassed their goal of 1,000 cans of food. The food that students donated went to families who are in need with in our community.

Assistant Principal Mike Dittrich stated, "I was amazed by the way students and teachers could come together and interact and compete to feed the hungry in our community."

There was a friendly competition among advisories to see who could bring in the most cans. In the eighth grade Mrs. Jones' advisory was victorious in the total can count and in the seventh grade Mrs. Mooney's advisory stood atop the total can count podium. Those winning advisories then played the second runner up in each grade in a game of basketball, hence the Hoops for Hunger. The winning advisories in the student games then each took a half to play the teachers in a game of basketball. Hoops for Hunger was a great experience for students in both supporting their own greater MRH community and in building community within the middle school itself.
