E4 Students Visit Sheldon Concert Hall
On Wednesday, January 9, 2013 the sixth through eighth grade E4 classes went to Sheldon Concert Hall for The Melting Pot Performance. The Sheldon’s website describes the experience as follows, “(students) explore the folk music of America, from Colonial-era ballads and Southern spirituals, to songs of the cowboys and folk songs of the 20th century. Featuring Charlie Pfeffer, John Higgins, Ellen Gomez and Sandy Weltman.”
Students were treated to this musical history lesson through sing-alongs, group performances, and solo performances by the above mentioned musicians. Through this experience E4 students we able to see and experience the many influences on modern current American music and the role society plays in shaping the music of each time period.
