MRH Celebrates Black History Month
Maplewood Richmond Heights Middle and High School will hold an assembly on Friday, February 27, 2015 to celebrate Black History Month. Two guests, Koran Bolden and jazz artist Byron Stripling will be featured for this special program.
The guest speaker, Koran Bolden, is a national award winning orator and author. Bolden speaks to youth across the local St. Louis area to encourage them to embrace the idea of having a mentor starting early in their lives and staying on a bright path into adulthood. Bolden will speak to the students and answer questions afterwards.
The musical selection will be provided by legendary jazz trumpeter and vocalist, Byron Stripling. Stripling along with his band will perform an educational and informative style concert during the program, highlighting historical musical era’s that helped shape history. Stripling is the artistic director of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and leader of his own quartet with many other accomplishments under his belt.
Byron Stripling is presented in conjunction with Jazz St. Louis.
