MS Students Film “Book Trailers”

student drawing a story board Scholars in Mrs. Pezzani-Rovira’s class have been working hard to create book trailers for their latest novel, Among the Hidden.  Book trailers, similar to movie trailers, are visual representations of books designed to generate interest in a particular novel.

Students began the process by individually outlining their ideas using storyboards.  Each storyboard included a sequence of drawings, with directions and dialogue, for three different scenes that they believed to be most important for conveying the book’s message.  Students then shared their storyboard with their group, and worked together to determine the scenes that they would actually shoot.

The next step involved collaboratively completing a graphic organizer for each scene, including detailed descriptions, casting information, and necessary props and resources (which they were responsible for locating or producing).  Currently the students are in the process of filming their trailers, and next week they will work with Mr. Jewell to complete the editing process.
