ECC Students Explore the Game of Chess
This semester, students in Mrs. Sausele’s first grade class have been motivated to learn Chess. What started out as an inside-recess activity quickly became something more.
Since January, first grade students have continued to hone their chess skills with a little help. The Maplewood Richmond Heights High School Chess Team visited the class on two separate occasions. The older students’ patience and expertise were a boost to the younger students’ confidence and strategies.
Then, the class took a field trip the World Chess Museum. While there, they learned from Chess Masters and learned more about the rich history of Chess. What’s next for these budding Chess players? Only time will tell!
