Volunteer Opportunities Abound for MRH Students at New Soup Kitchen
Maplewood Richmond Heights School District students are welcome to volunteer their time at The Branch Outreach, which cut the ribbon on its Yale Avenue location on Saturday, July 8.
The Branch Outreach is a soup kitchen and resource center for struggling, food-insecure families. Currently, the center offers just one meal per month, but plans are in the works to expand that schedule to five meals per week.
Opportunities to volunteer or assist are numerous. These could include hosting a canned food drive or bake sale, distributing fliers, donating food, and making monetary donations. In the kitchen itself, volunteers could prepare and serve meals, and help with cleanup afterward.
The serving schedule includes many Saturdays and a few Thursdays and Fridays. For more information about how to help, check out their web site: http://www.maplewoodbranch.org/
