Kiwanis is a global volunteer organization with the mission of “serving the children of the world, one child and one community at a time.” When Kiwanis club members serve kids, they support the Kiwanis causes: health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth leadership development. Thanks to those causes, members make an impact that lasts — from infancy to early adulthood.
Here are some of the ways the Kiwanis Club of Maplewood is active in the MRH Schools community:
Pancake Breakfast & Fundraising
The annual Pancake Breakfast generates proceeds for MRH Key Club and other District programs. The breakfast, held on the Saturday nearest Veterans Day in November, also collects canned goods for Weekend On Wheels and veterans always eat free. The tournament is scheduled on the Monday prior to Father's Day in June.
Jeff Johnson Open Benefit Golf Tournament
Each spring, the Kiwanis Club of Maplewood organizes a golf tournament to raise money for scholarships for MRH graduates. A Club committee reviews student applications and selects recipients who are awarded their scholarships in May.
Support for Student Leadership
Maplewood Kiwanis sponsors the Key Club, one of the most popular and well-attended student groups at MRH High School. Both clubs hold twice yearly lunch meetings.
