TrustWellness
Click here for the monthly TrustWellness eNewsletter. Included is information about how TrustWellness can help you reach your health goals, with resources available to you through your CSD Insurance Trust health benefits.
TrustWellness is a voluntary wellness program available to all employees enrolled with the district medical insurance. The program is administered according to federal rules permitting employer-sponsored wellness programs that seek to improve employee health or prevent disease, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, as applicable, among others.
If you choose to participate in the wellness program you may be asked to complete a voluntary health risk assessment or "HA" that asks a series of questions about your health-related activities and behaviors and whether you have or had certain medical conditions (e.g., cancer, diabetes, or heart disease). You may also be asked to complete a biometric screening, which will include a blood test for LDL, HDL, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and blood sugar. You are not required to complete the HA or to participate in the blood test or other medical examinations.
Incentives may be available for employees who participate in certain health-related activities including but not limited to: activity challenge, stress challenge, holiday maintain don’t gain. If you are unable to participate in any of the health-related activities to receive an incentive, you may be entitled to a reasonable accommodation or an alternative standard. You may request a reasonable accommodation or an alternative standard by contacting TrustWellness Coordinator at laurafortrustwellness@gmail.com.
The information from your HA and the results from your biometric screening will be used to provide you with information to help you understand your current health and potential risks, and may also be used to offer you services through the wellness program, such as Anthem ConditionCare. You also are encouraged to share your results or concerns with your own doctor.
Experts have been studying heart disease for decades — and everyone can benefit from that knowledge. “The lifestyle habits that keep your heart healthy may also leave you less vulnerable to serious complications from infections such as COVID-19 and influenza,” says cardiologist Dr. Deepak L. Bhatt, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and editor in chief of the Harvard Heart Letter.
So what exactly are those heart-healthy habits? The American Heart Association refers to them as “Life’s Simple 7.” Put simply, they are:

- Eat better https://www.csdinsurancetrust.

CSD Insurance Trust
The CSD Insurance Trust was established on October 1, 1991 by a number of forward thinking school districts along

with the Cooperating School District (now known as Education Plus). The purpose of the Trust's creation was to cooperatively purchase medical insurance knowing that the larger the group size, the more influence and control over rates could be obtained from insurance providers.
That principle is still true today as the rates obtained from our program carriers continue to be better than any one member could obtain on their own. The Trust has also been able to leverage our carriers to receive additional services and special arrangements that only larger employer groups are offered.
The Trust began by offering fully-insured health insurance plans and then in 2013, the Trust was reorganized to operate as a self-insured organization.
Over the years, the Trust has grown and now serves over 10,000 employees and retirees and has expanded its services to include:
- Self-Insured Programs
- Medical Insurance
- Dental Insurance
- Vision Insurance
- Fully-Insured Programs
- Life and AD&D Insurance
- Supplemental Life Insurance
- Voluntary Programs
- Disability Insurance
- Accident Insurance
- Critical Illness Insurance
- Hospital Indemnity Insurance
- Additional Services
- Benefits Administration
- COBRA Administration
- ACA Reporting
The CSD Insurance Trust is organized and operated by its members for the benefit of those members. Each member provides a representative to the Trust's Advisory Committee, who elects three (3) Trustees to conduct the business of the Trust. The Trustees appoint a Trust Administrator to manage the day-to-day operations and a Managing Director to oversee other duties of the Trust.
