Building Important Connections
Establishing a classroom community makes everyone feel safe, welcome, and part of things. One way we establish a community is through Home Visits. Before school starts, teachers visit each student’s home and meet the people they call family. Teachers ask the student about things like what they like to do, what they are interested in learning, and what they are proud of. It also provides an opportunity for parents to ask questions and speak informally with their child's classroom teacher. This connection makes all the difference on the first day of school and beyond. Teachers feel a strong connection with their families after looping and joining them in their home. It is something the community truly prides.
