MRH Parents As Teachers host "READ From The START"
On January 14 & 21, 2015, the MRH Parents As Teachers program hosted READ From The START. The Missouri Humanities Council provided a grant to assist with this event. Read From the Start is a reading program that teaches parents and caregivers the joy and benefits of reading to children from birth to five years old. These two-part sessions were facilitated by certified staff and discussion leaders and filled with learning opportunities for parents and caregivers. Free childcare was provided by a group of MRH Middle School and High School students, coordinated by John Capuano, Coordinator of Educational Exploration/Apprenticeship. Parents who attended RFTS took home seven new children’s books provided by the Missouri Humanities Council. These families also received numerous free books provided by the ECC PTO. This event was a true district collaboration, with plenty of take home information for the entire family.
