NEW: Plans to Pick Up Student Items and Return School Items

Despite what we originally thought was possible, over the past few weeks we have been able to empty student lockers and student desks in each classroom. In the process, we prepared pick up bags for each student with the materials we found in each child's locker and desk. Items found range from jackets and lunch boxes to binders and pencil cases.

In addition, we know that many of you may have MRH technology devices (Chromebooks) and library books that need to be returned.

Therefore, we are setting up two evenings for student item pick up and to return MRH materials. Please make note of how the pick up/drop off times are organized.

Tuesday, May 26th

2:00 - 4:00pm - Students with Last Names that begin with A - E should drop by during this time to pick up items and return items

4:00 - 6:00pm - Students with Last Names that begin with F - L should drop by during this time to pick up items and return items

Wednesday, May 27th

2:00 - 4:00pm - Students with Last Names that begin with M - R should drop by during this time to pick up items and return items

4:00 - 6:00pm - Students with Last Names that begin with S - Z should drop by during this time to pick up items and return items

Example: A student with the last name of "Adams" should come by on Tuesday the 26th from 2:00 - 4:00pm. A student with the name of "Smith" should come by on Wednesday the 27th from 4:00 - 6:00pm.

These pick up times are designed to respect your time and also minimize disruptions to traffic. However, if your family cannot drop by on your date or at your specified time, you may come by at any of the dates/times that are offered. For those that can, we ask you to come at your requested time.

All pick ups/returns will occur on the Glades Ave. side

of the building (the circle drive).

Each yearbook costs $14.00.

Once yearbooks arrive, families will be notified about pick up options - we are hoping yearbooks will arrive prior to the student pick up evenings listed above and we can distribute them with the student item pick ups.

Student Assignments/Report Cards Q & A

How will my student(s) online learning be reflected on their 4th Quarter Report Card?

As we moved toward complete online learning, our teachers identified the specific learning standards that are necessary for completing this current grade-level and/or necessary as a foundation for the next grade-level. These are the priority standards we are focusing on in the remainder of 4th Quarter.

Typically, our report card consists of a numeric scale of 1 - 4. For the 4th Quarter Report Card we will not be using this 1 - 4 scale. Instead, we will provide a narrative statement describing your child’s progress on the priority standards we focused on for the 4th Quarter. This approach will be consistent for grades Kindergarten through 6th Grade.

Will my student(s) be in “trouble” or retained for not completing the online assignments?

I have had several families ask this question. The simple answer is “No”. Our staff will continue to reach out and offer support to you and your child during this time. However, your child will not be in “trouble” and a child will not be retained due to not completing an online assignment. The purpose of our online assignments is to continue student learning during this difficult time and for teachers to offer feedback to students in an effort to continue to move each student forward.

Why should my student(s) continue to complete their online learning assignments?

The concept of “learning loss” is very real. Students typically experience “learning loss” during an extended period of time without continuing their learning. Summer is often a prime opportunity for “learning loss”, which is why we encourage students to continue to read, practice math facts, or attend summer learning programs. Our goal in providing online learning during this difficult time is to minimize “learning loss” and position our students (despite the circumstances) to be prepared for future learning experiences.

New lessons will be available each Wednesday via itsLearning. Thank you for your partnership as we support our students in continued learning during the remainder of this school year.
