Actively Working Together
Each spring, we prepare for our state-wide MAP testing. This year, we conducted mock MAP/TN testing days to better prepare our students for testing time. This mock schedule also provided students the opportunity to understand the testing process, reduce anxiety, review grade level work, and gain clarifications. Teachers also followed protocols during the mock testing to simulate testing procedures so it is seamless at testing time.
On Monday, April 9th, MRHE will have its first "MAP Scavenger Hunt Day." Students will work together in multiage teams for nearly an hour in the gym and outside integrating physical education with MAP-like
math questions. The goal is to kick-off our testing week with excitement from our students and to learn a few things by working together in an active manner. Students will measure, problem-solve, use geometry, add, subtract, use fractions, and much more...all while doing some physical activities such as jumping jacks or running an obstacle course!
The testing schedule is as follows:
April 10 - 19 (3rd - 6th grade)
April 24 - May 3 (2nd grade)
Make-up testing through May 4
Although MAP/TN tests are only a "snapshot" of student learning, they are important indicators of how schools are performing. Be sure that your child is ready to show what they know and come to school everyday on time with a good night's rest. Please check out this link to see more helpful tips about testing.
