French Hip Hop Comes to MRH High School

Rapper Webster at MRH High School. What's the difference between hip-hop and rap?

"Hip-hop is a culture, and rap music is the language of that culture," says Aly Ndiaye, aka Webster

When he isn't performing concerts or making records, Webster travels the world to present writing workshops where he teaches the creative use of French through rap. Today, the French-Canadian artist visited students at MRH High School. He has also visited several American universities including Harvard, MIT, Howard, Georgetown and UCLA. He has also given concerts, lectures and writing workshops in several countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and South America. His musical repertoire includes 8 albums.

Rapper Webster at MRH High School. The writing workshops allow Webster to share his vision of composing a hip-hop text and teach students the value of literacy in all endeavors.

"It is an appropriate tool to demonstrate to the uninitiated the intellectual and artistic value of this art," he says.
