MRH Participates in Kid’s Voting 2016

kids voting logoWhen citizens vote for this election on November 8th, Maplewood Richmond Heights students (K-12) will mirror those duties by participating in a mock election through Kids Voting Missouri. an affiliate of Kids Voting USA.

Kids Voting USA is a nonpartisan, grassroots-driven voter education program committed to creating lifelong voting habits in children, increasing family communication about citizenship, and encouraging greater adult voter turnout.

Weeks before the election, students learn about the candidates and issues and importance of becoming an informed citizen. They discuss, debate, learn about decision-making, compromise, majority rule, branches of government, and representative democracy. On Election Day students have the opportunity to vote on many of the same candidates and issues as the adult voters.
