Promotion Ceremony Plans Announced
Monday, April 27, 2020
6th Grade and 8th Grade Families,
Promotion from one school to another is an important part of a student’s MRH experience and often seen as a rite of passage to the next academic level. We believe these are moments that should be celebrated despite our current circumstances. After a great deal of thought, consultation with MRH Central Office Administration, and other regional school districts, we are moving forward with a virtual version of both the 6th Grade and 8th Grade Promotion ceremonies. By using this virtual format, we hope to maintain the celebratory and personalized nature of both of these events, while also maintaining safety and honoring the health needs of all participants. In order to accomplish this task, MRH will be partnering with Spot Content Studio to create a professional keepsake that will mark this important milestone for our students and families.
6th Grade Promotion:
The virtual 6th-grade ceremony will include a special “Goodbye from MRHE” message from Dr. Adams, a slide show of individual student pictures, special family messages to each 6th grader, special messages from the MRHE staff, and a final “Welcome to Middle School” from Mr. Dittrich.
In order to make this a special experience for your student, we need your help! We would like each 6th-grade family to send a special, personalized message to their 6th grader. Please follow the link below to share your message for your child. We ask that you keep this message as a surprise for your student, so the first time they read the message is when they view the virtual ceremony. Our team will work to place the messages, video components, and pictures together into the virtual format.
We will be using your child’s “official” picture from this year’s school picture day. If your child enrolled at MRH Elementary after picture day, please send a picture of your child to email@example.com
8th Grade Promotion:
The virtual 8th-grade ceremony will have a similar format to what we would normally conduct in our district theatre. In place of where students typically walk across the stage, each student has been asked as part of a communication arts assignment to provide a short video on a highlight from middle school. We do not need parents to submit any pictures, etc. If students have completed this assignment then we have all that we need to move forward and include your child in the keepsake. The video will also include a commencement address from Mr. Dittrich and some farewell good lucks from our staff. The video has provided an additional opportunity for two of our high school scholars from mobile journalism to apprentice with SPOT Content Studio to produce this keepsake and receive a valuable internship at the same time.
Both the 6th-grade and 8th-grade video links will be provided on social media, through email, and a downloadable link from SPOT Content Studio on their website. Since we are working with an outside partner to create these important keepsakes, the official dates for the celebrations have changed.
The virtual 6th-Grade Promotion will be shared with families on Wednesday, June 3rd.
The virtual 8th-Grade Promotion will be shared with families on Thursday, June 4th.
In light of the circumstances, we are excited to offer this opportunity to our students and families. We appreciate your continued partnership as we move forward with this project.
