Locker Decoration & Chromebook Pick-Up Days
August 16th from 11 - 3 PM
August 17th from 2 - 6 PM
Students should only attend one Locker Decoration and Chromebook Pickup Day and plan on being here for about thirty minutes. Families will be able to enter the building through the front doors (trackside). Families will proceed to the gymnasium. Just inside the door you will have an opportunity to pay your tech and expedition fees (see info below on how payment can be made of if a payment plan is needed), pick up their Chromebook, and pick up a school-issued combination lock for the locker. If the lock is lost, there is a $5 replacement fee. Students may not bring their own lock.
After paying your fees, picking up your lock and Chromebook, students will be allowed on 7th and 8th-grade hallways to put supplies in their locker and decorate the inside of their locker (families will need to exit the building and wait for their student outside). We do ask that all decorations be temporary and they are confined to the inside of their locker. Students may put in shelving and use magnets to decorate. We ask that no stickers be placed on the lockers.
(Rumor has it there is a lock opening tournament for 7th grade and 8th grade at the beginning of the year.)
Back to School/Meet the Teacher Night
Please join us on August 18th from 6 - 7 PM. We will be meeting on the track (weather pending) to allow both students and families to attend safely. We will also be splitting the time for students based on their last names.
Student last name A-L will attend 6:00-6:30
Student last name M-Z will attend 6:30-7:00
There will be tables for each teacher where you will get to meet them and learn a bit about what their class will be learning this year. You may enter the track from the Martini Dr. entrance. Please bring your schedule with you so you know which elective teachers to meet. If you have lost your schedule, we will have extras on hand. (The rain-out date will be August 19th from 6 - 7 PM).
Expedition Fee - MRH Middle School believes in the importance of student learning through the expeditionary model. The expeditionary model takes students outside of the typical classroom walls for learning approximately 15% of the school year. Expeditionary learning provides a platform for authentic learning through a hands-on approach. These opportunities provide a unique and excellent environment for your middle school child to excel in their learning and reach their potential. The expedition fee for all students is $75. This fee covers just a small portion of sending your child on local expeditions and out-of-state expeditions. As of now, 7th grade is scheduled to attend the Tremont Institute in the Great Smoky Mountains in February and 8th grade is scheduled to attend Jekyll Island, GA, and the University of Georgia Sea Laboratory in May. The $75 expedition fee is not exclusive to these expeditions. The $75 helps cover local transportation, guest presentations, admission fees to museums, and expedition supplies when needed. Not attending the out-of-state expedition does not exclude families from this fee. If this fee is a hardship, please reach out to either one of us to work out a payment plan.
Additionally, our 1:1 laptop initiative shows our commitment to the integration of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and inquiry through instructional technology. For several years, the Middle School has made a commitment to integrating Google Apps for Education into our instruction. Each student will be issued a Chromebook at the beginning of the 7th-grade year. That Chromebook will remain with the student through 8th grade. Students will continue to pay this technology fee through middle school and high school. When they graduate from MRH they will take their Chromebook with them. The technology fee is intended to offset maintenance and repair. The fees required to obtain a Chromebook for your student are as follows and must be paid before Chromebooks are issued to your student:
Students on Full Pay Lunch - $75 Expedition fee plus $30 tech fee = $105 total
Students on Reduced Lunch - $75 Expedition fee plus $15 tech fee = $90 total
Students on Free Lunch - $75 Expedition fee plus $5 tech fee = $80 total
Beginning August 16th, these fees, can be paid by using My School Bucks. You will receive an invoice (from My School Bucks) and then you can start the payment process using My School Bucks. Please expect these invoices to be sent out by Friday at noon.

To access this service:
1. Go to the district website at www.mrhschools.net.
2. Click the Parents Link (top right), then click lunch menus (on the drop-down).
3. Click the mySchoolBucks link.
4. From this website, you can create your account and add money to your child’s school meal account, pay technology fees. All you need is your child’s name, school, and student ID number. The ID number is the same as last year.
If you are unable to use My School Bucks you can mail a check made payable to MRH School District to Mrs. Jonas at the middle school. Please use our new address: 7500 LOHMEYER AVENUE, MAPLEWOOD, MO 63143.
Lastly, fees can also be paid over the phone with a credit/debit card by calling the Middle School office at (314) 644-4406 between 8 am - 3 pm.
