MRH and Brentwood Partner to Raise Funds for Flood Victims
Tuesday, Jan. 25 marked the culmination of a joint project between MRH High School and Brentwood High School to raise funds for the victims of the flooding in Costa Rica. "Fight the Flood" raised over $1,300, which will be donated to the American Red Cross.
Funds were raised through T-shirt sales and donations at the Jan. 25 basketball game at Brentwood.
The project was arranged through a partnership between the student councils from both schools. MRH co-advisor Laura Laramore said the cooperation showed how well students can work together, even if there’s a rivalry on the court. "They were very gracious, and helped us with some ideas for future projects."
This is the second year the two schools have worked together to raise funds for a worthy cause. Last year, a similar effort, which culminated at the home game at MRH, raised over $3,500 for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
"Fight the Flood" T-shirts are still available. Contact MRH High School at 644-4401 for details.
