MRH Food Program Wins Another Award
On Thursday, May 5, MRH and its partners in the Healthy Eating with Local Produce program were awarded a “What’s Right With the Region Award” from Focus St. Louis. The prestigious regional award is presented annually to individuals, organizations, and programs that work for the greater good of the St. Louis area.
The Healthy Eating with Local Produce program just wrapped up its second year of providing fresh, healthy, and local produce in MRH school cafeterias. The innovative program is a result of years of planning, a grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health, and the partnership with Saint Louis University, Missouri Farmers’ Union, and Sappington Farmers’ Market.
The “What’s Right with the Region Award” was presented in the category of Fostering Regional Cooperation. The award was the second honor for the foods program, having earned the “2010 Outstanding Local Government Achievement Award” in November.
It is also the second “What’s Right with the Region Award” presented to MRH. In 2008, Dr. Henke received a “What’s Right with the Region Award” in the category of Creating Quality Educational Opportunities.
