MRH to Host Forum on the Federal Farm Bill
The Maplewood Richmond Heights School District is pleased to host the "You Call it Farm Bill – We Call it Food Bill" Forum presented by U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan on Thursday, Sept. 1 at the MRH Middle/High School Theatre. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the program begins at 6:45 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Join Carnahan and local and national experts for an educational symposium on the Federal Farm Bill. As Carnahan’s website points out, “If you eat, the Farm Bill affects you!”
The evening’s program is developed by Carnahan’s Healthy Food Initiative, which was the driving force behind the Healthy Eating with Local Produce program launched at MRH in 2009. The program has earned national recognition and earned two regional awards.
Speakers include Dr. Abner Womack of the Food and Policy Research Institute of the University of Missouri, Megan Lott of the National Farm to School Program, and Congressman Carnahan. A panel discussion includes Dr. Mildred Mattfeldt-Beman of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Saint Louis University; Bruce Norman of the Chartwells School Dining Service; Richard Oswald, President of the Missouri Farmer’s Union; and MRH’s Superintendent Dr. Linda Henke. A complete list of panelists and more details are on this flier.
An RSVP is requested. Click here or call (314) 962-1523.
