Elementary Students Prepare for 2012 Science Fair
There is a buzz of excitement in the sixth grade hallway between classes. Students are discussing their project plans and ideas for the 2012 Science Fair. Most MRH students who are planning on participating in this year’s fair, have already begun work on their projects.
MRH sixth graders are required to submit an entry as part of their semester grade whereas participation in the Science Fair is voluntary for second through fifth grades. “I am starting optional after-school sessions on January 17 for any second through fifth grade students who would like some guidance doing a project,” says Deb Barham. Barham teaches sixth grade science and social studies and is organizing MRH Elementary’s participation in the event. Of course, sixth graders will benefit from her guidance during their normal class schedule.
Finished entries are due on February 23, and will be on display in the Elementary library. Judging will take place on February 27. with those exhibits chosen to represent MRH at the St. Louis Regional Science Fair being announced on February 29. The Regional Science Fair will take place during the first week in May at Queeny Park.
