Fine Arts and Family Fun in February at the ECC
The MRH Early Childhood Center welcomes children and parents/caregivers to participate together to learn basic techniques for building and creating with clay. Four sessions will be held on Saturdays throughout February for guests to attend. You may enroll in one class or for the entire series. Each class is $20 ($80 for the entire series) and includes all materials. Class attendees will be able to take home their pottery and sculptural pieces after they are preserved through kiln firing.
February 4, 2012 - Shapes and Textures
- Use a variety of tools, found objects and natural items to print designs into soft clay. Each participant will build a “clay collage” onto a clay tile.
February 11, 2012 - Pinch Pots
- Using only hands as tools, create a unique cup or bowl.
February 18, 2012 - Creative Coil Building
- Create a vessel by layering and attaching coils of clay.
February 25, 2012 - Animal Sculpture
- Make a sculpture inspired by a favorite furry or feathered friend.
9:00-10:00 a.m. (age 4-5)
10:30-11:30 a.m. (age 6-7)
Classes will be held in the MRH ECC Art Studio (please enter through the playground door).
