Academic Excellence Continues in Seventh Grade
Although it hasn?t felt much like winter, the seventh grade has been staying close to home the past few weeks working on new projects in all classes. In science, the students are investigating weather. Students collected weather predictions one to four days out and compared them for accuracy, graphing their results and explaining the data. Science also collaborated with Mrs. Schepker-Mueller to make some scienti?c drawings of bee parts. Students used digital microscopes to photograph and make a scale drawing of the part. Math class ?nished a unit on probability and is working on data and measurement.
In social studies students are completing their unit on economics by writing an essay on how economic factors impact prices. Students analyzed a variety of documents to do their research. Communication arts completed their unit on the short story by analyzing a short story they chose and writing a letter to the author with their analysis. They also wrote their own short story. Currently, students are researching a variety of written and on-line sources concerning a world problem they have chosen to investigate. From their research they will complete a number of writing activities to inform others about the impact of the problem and possible solutions.
