Eighth Grade Studies Civil War Through Battledrum
As preview of their study of the Civil War, the eighth grade team traveled to the History Museum to see Metro Theater’s production of Battledrum. Battledrum looks at the Civil War from the perspective of Army drummer boys. Too young to take up arms but given heavy responsibilities, they played the important role of communicating their officers’ commands: to assemble, to advance, to retreat. They set the cadence for marching; they beat the drums at executions.
