Construction Complete at ECC and MS/HS

In April of 2010, the MRH community passed Proposition Y, a bond measure designed to address a number of facility concerns throughout the district. The two largest projects were the Early Childhood Center renovation and the courtyard and parking lot at the Middle/High School.  All projects are now complete and are being fully utilized by the district.

Early Childhood Center - Kitchen/Cafeteria
In order to address an outdated and inadequate kitchen and serving area, while also addressing other facility improvements and necessary upgrades, the district renovated and expanded the northwest wing of the ECC. The wing was expanded to the west about 20 additional feet, and now features an improved entrance area facing the school's parking lot. Inside, the most notable change is the upstairs, where the gym was converted into a combined gym and cafeteria. The space includes a movable divider, allowing the room to be divided into two smaller spaces or to be used as one large space. A teaching kitchen and access to the outside playspace on the north side of the building was also added. Additional restrooms, multipurpose spaces and other upgrades were complete in the building

Middle/High School - Parking Lot/Courtyard/Exterior
With the passage of the bond, the district acquired a number of homes just north of the building. The project modified the area, including Lohmeyer and Florent Avenues, to have a new parking lot available for staff, visitors, and students. Additional improvements included new fencing and replacement of a cooling tower which violated city code. The lower level parking lot was converted to a courtyard, thereby establishing an appropriate entrance area for the school.  The courtyard serves as an outdoor classroom and concert area for student performances.  On May 3, 2012 the MRH Board of Education officially named the courtyard the “Linda Henke Commons” in honor of Dr. Henke’s 12 years of service to the district.
