MRH Elementary - Gateway Arch Partnership 'Expands' School As Museum Metaphor
Earlier this year the National Park Service awarded a grant to the Gateway Arch to support a partnership between the National Expansion Memorial (the Gateway Arch) and MRH Elementary School as part of the National Park Foundation’s “America’s Best Idea” program
“One aspect of this partnership that we are thrilled about is the invitation for our students to design a special exhibit in the Museum of Westward Expansion, which is housed in the lower level of the Gateway Arch,” MRHE Principal Jason Adams stated in the December 2012 MRHE Newsletter. “Our teachers and students have worked closely with the staff of the Gateway Arch to learn how the principles of museum work can enhance learning within our school.”
On December 20, 2012 and continuing through January 10, 2013, MRHE student work will be on display in the Museum of Westward Expansion for guests to visit. On Thursday, January 10, the entire MRHE community is invited to a special reception at the Gateway Arch to view and celebrate our students’ exhibit.
