MRH Board of Education Member Lamar Agard Steps Down

Lamar Agard The Maplewood Richmond Heights School District regretfully announces Board of Education Member Lamar Agard has resigned from the Board effective 11:59 p.m. on January 17, 2013 to pursue other personal and professional goals. Agard made his announcement at the Board of Education’s regular meeting on Thursday, January 17.

In making his announcement Agard thanked the parents, Board of Education, faculty and administration, and students saying, “It has been an tremendous honor to serve on the Board and represent the many wonderful families in our community.”

“While the Board and administration is extremely sad to see Lamar go, we understand his need to direct his attention to his professional career at this time,” said MRH Board of Education President Maria Langston. “Lamar has been a stellar member of this Board and has given countless hours to support our schools and the children of MRH. He will be greatly missed and we wish him the very best in all his future endeavors.”

Agard joined the MRH Board of Education in April 2009 and was most recently its treasurer.  After voting to accept Agard’s resignation, the Board unanimously elected Nelson Mitten to the office of treasurer – a position Mitten had previously held.

Pursuant to MRH Board Policies BBC and BBE, the remaining Board members will seek a candidate to appoint to the Board of Education to fulfill Agard’s remaining term, which expires April 2015.
