MRH Students Recognized for Outstanding Achievement
Earlier this month, junior John O’Keefe received two awards recognizing his achievements in science. His first award was the JSEHS (Junior Science, Engineering, and Humanities Symposium) award, and the other was the Participation and Excellent Performance in Science award. These awards recognize excellence in student work in the areas of science and publication of science research.
MRH earned fourth place in math and science in the annual 2013 Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge. More than 200 students from 10 St. Louis area high schools competed at McKendree University on Feb. 8 in the St. Louis Regional tournament of the WYSE competition. Several MRH students will participate in the sectionals level of the competition before Spring Break for a science and math challenge. Students participating are Marquise White, Morgan Patterson Gill, Logan Doering, Beth Robberson, Daylee Hopson, Zach Russell, Will Tipton, Cecil Morgan, Kira Kelsay, Christine Parham, Essence Daniels-Brewer, Mariah Russell, Anna Wermuth, and Jonas Tiggs.
These students, and O’Keefe, have shown MRH the exceptional effort it takes to succeed in Science, and also set a great example for other MRH students.
