Raising Funds for a Cause
The staff and students at the ECC have joined together to raise funds for the Weekend on Wheels program. To kick off the event, Dr. Hebenstreit did a presentation on every day costs to make the experience real and applicable for the children. She demonstrated paying for rent, utilities and other expenses that might leave a family short for money on groceries. Students and teachers brainstormed ways to raise money to support the program.
Teachers paid $3.00 to benefit Weekend on Wheels and were allowed to wear jeans during the week. Students in Mrs. Bailey’s class decided to host a special activity. Students were invited to make individual brains and make a goal for their learning. To pay for this experience, students brought in canned goods and dry food items. The languages used to decorate the brains were watercolor, drawing, collage and oil pastel.
As a final activity students voted to wear dress up outfits to school Thursday March 7th. They will bring spare change to donate to Weekend on Wheels.
