Apple Brigade on the First Day of School at MRH
The first day of school at Maplewood Richmond Heights started off quite memorable for both students and staff. The students were welcomed back from their summer vacation by the Central Office staff and administrators who hand delivered each student a red apple.
Apple Brigade is an annual event special and unique to MRH where the Central Office staff and administrators visit every school building and hands each student, as well as all the teachers and staff an apple. Apple Brigade takes place on the first day of school, every year.
Jeremy Mapp, sixth grade math teacher, shared his excitement regarding the first day of school and the apple distribution. “I think this event is awesome, it gives the kids an opportunity to see the Central Office staff coming to visit them and also handing out apples,” he said. “The first day has been very busy but the kids are more than excited and I have high hopes for a great year.”
Daivon Laster, elementary student, said, “This is my favorite day of the year, when we get apples. So far we’ve learned a lot about our teachers expectations of us and keeping our spaces clean but the apples were the best part of the day so far.”
