MRH HS Student Completes University of Missouri’s Bridge Program
Maplewood Richmond Heights School District students are notorious for taking initiative to build upon their academics outside of the standard school setting. This particular student is no exception. Tenth grade student, Isaiah Gray, has recently completed University of Missouri-St Louis’ Bridge Summer Academy program.
Bridge is a scholastic program designed to equip high school students with the necessary tools to advance academically. Bridge focuses extensively on math and science courses while teaching students how to enhance their writing and communication skills. Finally, the most attractive factor of Bridge is that it assists students with enrolling and college preparation.
The participants attended summer classes from June 17 to July 11,2013. A recognition ceremony took place on July 12 where Gray was honored for successfully completing the program.
Gray is very involved at MRH. He is a member of the football team as well as track and field. Gray also takes a particular interest in journalism and he attempts to find ways to participate in writing activities in any way that he can.
“It was really fun meeting so many new people. My favorite part was learning about forensic science, it was so interesting. I’m glad I participated in this program because I feel that overall it will help me in the future as I reach the end of high school, especially regarding college planning,” said Gray.
