Important Message for Elementary Parents
August 27, 2013
An MRH Elementary School staff member found an anonymous note in one of our hallways indicating that a bomb had been placed within our school. Following our emergency plan, we immediately alerted the Richmond Heights Police Department, our District Student Resource Officer with the Maplewood Police Department, and our District Central Office.
As with all issues of safety, we take this kind of threat very seriously. Our first and primary concern is for the safety of our students. The authorities suspected the nature of the threat to be a prank and we quickly proceeded to take appropriate actions. Officials from the police department arrived on campus immediately to conduct a thorough inspection. No explosive devices or suspicious items were found and law enforcement officials quickly determined the school to be safe and that we did not need to evacuate the building.
These practical jokes are no laughing matter to those of us concerned with the safety of our students and the importance of an uninterrupted school day. False bomb threats are a crime under Missouri law, and charges will be filed if the individual responsible for this incident is caught.
I would like to compliment the students, staff and authorities for the way they handled this situation which will be investigated further by the police department. We will always be cautious, wary, and alert to providing a safe environment for our students.
Dr. Jason Adams
