MRH Students Participate in Prestigious Youth Jazz Programs
Maplewood Richmond Heights School District students are talented in so many different areas, outside of academics. One extra curricular activity that is making a buzz within the district is band. Select students who participate in band have been accomplishing some incredible honors within music.
Thomas Barron, twelfth grade student, (trumpet) recently won an audition with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Here is a link to their 2013-14 Concert Schedule. All concerts will take place at Powell Hall.
Nicole Orazi, eleventh grade, (tenor sax), Brianna Jackson, tenth grade, (bass guitar), both passed their auditions with the JazzU Program at Jazz at the Bistro.
JazzU is a competitive program of 60 middle and high school students under the direction of JazzU faculty members. They meet weekly between September and May in their small jazz combo groups that they are broken into.
Twelfth grade students, Thomas Barron, Zach Arias, (guitar), and John O'Keefe, (bass) will be returning for their fourth and final seasons with this prestigious jazz education program.
We wish them all the best of luck in all of their endeavors.
