MRH Elementary Winter Service Project Collects Record Amount of Food Items
The MRHE 2013 Winter Service Project launched in November and was wildly successful collecting over 2900 food items benefitting the MRH Weekend on Wheels program serving families in our district who are struggling.
“The addition of Raffle a Day Keeps the Hunger Away may have played a part in raising our totals” surmised MRHE Counselor Mary Darst. Many MRHE staff offered rewards to be raffled daily as food items were brought in. “It was hard to resist the chance to host gathering, or enjoy lunch with friends or play games with some of your favorite teachers,” added Co-Counselor, Lesa Thomas. 2nd Grade donated the most food items - at 715 - and will therefore send a group of representatives to the Operation Food Search Main Distribution Center to learn first-hand, how food is distributed to the local pantries they serve.
