MRH Staff Member Honored by SSD with Building Block Award
In early March, Steve Smith, special education paraprofessional, was honored with Special School District’s Building Block Award for outstanding paraprofessionals. Special School District (SSD) is a nationwide leader in providing special education services and technological education. The Building Block Award honors SSD’s outstanding paraprofessionals for their contributions to the lives of SSD students.
Maplewood Richmond Heights High School staff nominated Smith for his dedication and commitment to working with his students focusing on strength training and walking and even assisting them with practicing for the school plays. SSD is continuously developing a wide range of award programs to recognize staff members who go above and beyond on a daily basis and make a difference in education.
The SSD Building Block Award honors outstanding paraprofessionals from around the district. Nominees for the award are judged on their skills and on their dedication to students. Winners of the Building Block Award are recognized annually at the SSD Salutes Banquet.
