Vote for Early Childhood Center’s Seeds of Change Grant
Maplewood Richmond Heights Early Childhood Center has entered the Seeds of Change® Grant Program for an opportunity to win one of two $20,000 or one of 15 $10,000 grants for the Seed to Table program. The grants will be awarded to organizations that help support and develop sustainable, community-based gardening programs that focus on teaching people where their food comes from and the delicious ways it can end up on your plate. Funding for this grant program comes from the “1% Fund,” the company’s commitment to donate one percent of net sales to support nutrition and gardening programs.
“At MRH ECC we believe that individuals, families and communities must be nourished, cultivated and protected to be able to thrive – the same as plants, gardens and ecosystems. Good nutrition is at the core of our program and this grant will allow us to offer gardening, cooking and nutrition education, as well as provide fresh organic foods for our 350 students and their families,” said Almut Marino. “Our program would specifically support families in need in partnership with the district's food pantry program, Weekend On Wheels, the support group for teen moms, and Mosaic Services. With more funding we can engage with more families and equip them to adopt a culture of health.”
