Letter from Superintendent Karen I. Hall Regarding Bus Accident
Dear MRH Parent/Guardian(s):
This morning, at approximately 7:55 a.m., one of our buses carrying 39 high school students was involved in an accident at the intersection of Martini Drive and Manchester Road. While traveling southbound on Martini and beginning to turn west onto Manchester, the rear of the bus was hit by a truck and trailer that was pulling into the recently opened QuikTrip parking lot. Thankfully everyone on the bus, including students and staff, were unharmed and the bus received minor damage.
We are continuing to investigate the accident with the Maplewood Police Department. In the meantime, we will move our bus drop-off and pick-up back to the temporary location used during the QuikTrip construction along Lohmeyer Avenue (by the gymnasium) until we can determine the safety of Martini Avenue. This new increase of vehicular traffic and congestion around our Middle and High School campus causes us concern for our students.
Please be assured that we will do everything we can to ensure the safety and well-being of our children. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office at (314) 644-4400.
Karen I. Hall
Please note: This letter was sent directly to parents whose children were on the affected bus.
