Elem Teacher Janine Lillard Named 2014-2015 MRH Teacher of the Year
Each year, the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District recognizes teachers who go above and beyond both in their classroom and within the community. This year, Janine Lillard, second and third grade looping teacher, is the 2014-2015 MRH District Teacher of the Year and the Elementary Teacher of the Year. Lillard along with her colleagues who also received this recognition at their respective school levels, will be honored at the District’s annual Employee Appreciation Dinner held in the spring.
The MRH District Teacher of the Year award recognizes a teacher who demonstrates excellence and commitment to teaching. The awardee is honored for his or her passion and commitment to the teaching profession; success of the individual’s classroom teaching approach; professional growth and development; innovation and creativity in the classroom; and knowledge of current teaching techniques and educational issues.
In addition to Lillard, MRH is also honoring a teacher from each of its other three schools:
- Early Childhood Center: Yvonne Wege, Kindergarten/1st grade Teacher
- Middle School: Deanna Sainz, Communication Arts Teacher
- High School: Patrice Bryan, Social Justice/Semester of Service Teacher
“Each of these teachers are admired for their commitment to education, the community, and above all, our students,” said MRH Superintendent Karen I. Hall. “The commitment from all of our faculty and staff here at MRH is truly inspirational.”
The selection process began at the school level, where building administrators nominated a “School Teacher of the Year.” These four nominations were then reviewed at the district level with one being awarded “District Teacher of the Year.”
