VIDEO: MRH Hosts Water Café Conversations
High School students at Maplewood Richmond Heights, hosted an event last week in the school’s Research and Design Center. The event, Water Café Conversations, was planned by the school’s Semester of Service students (students who are also responsible for previous activities such as Clean up the World Day).
The students along with Patrice Bryan, Semester of Service & Social Justice Teacher, invited a wide range of water experts to the event to discuss sustainability, conservation, and how to successfully implement a water project for this upcoming Spring semester. The group included individuals from MO Department of National Resources, Sierra Club, Monsanto , MSD and many more organizations.
The speakers were made up of a water purification chemist, a number of activists, different corporate partners and many more special guests. Ten water professionals presented to the group and after they were finished, the students led conversations around various water issues. They also brainstormed ideas on how to strategically put in place a large water project this Spring, which will be funded from a grant that was provided specifically for this project.
