MRH HS Senior John Ahn Receives Gates Millennium Scholarship
High School senior, John Ahn has been selected to be one of 1,000 students selected for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program. With this award, recipients to are awarded a full ride scholarship to any accredited college/university in the United States he/she chooses. There were over 57,000 applicants this year.
Ahn was recognized for his strong leadership, community service and academic achievements. He participates in various school activities and groups such as Kiwanis Key Club and National Honor Society, just to name a few.
“The Gates Scholarship is such a prestigious scholarship and organization that emphasizes service, high academics and leadership roles, which is clearly why John Ahn was a recipient. He embodies every aspect that they look for in an applicant and he has worked extremely hard to get here,” says Patrice Bryan, Service Learning Teacher.
“It was both humbling to have affirmation for the work I've been doing the past couple years, but this achievement was something I could've obtained only through the MRH District and the opportunities I've been given in my life. I owe this scholarship to many people in my life and I'm grateful for what they've done for me,” says Ahn.
