MRH Educators Present at History Museum
Four educators from Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School had the chance to present an information-filled lecture at the St. Louis History Museum on Friday, June 12, 2015.
At MRH Elementary, the metaphor is school as museum. This means that the students become curators and docents as they put their learning on display with two museum exhibits for peers, families, and the public. These museum exhibits provide for extensive use of reading and writing across the curriculum and encourage the use of technology.
As the educators presented, they discussed with their audience about how they go about the process of putting together a museum exhibit; the how and why of it all. Their main focus was sharing their experiences about how they go about engaging students in meaningful work as well as encouraging risk-taking conversation in which they hear many perspectives and show respect for one another during the process.
