MRH Students Intern at The St. Louis Arch
Two Maplewood Richmond Heights High School students, Dylan Kiefer and Symphonie Cameron, completed a five-week Park Steward internship this summer at Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (Arch & Old Courthouse). The internship was funded by the National Park Foundation and provides opportunities for high school students to get involved with the National Park Service (NPS).
Both students worked together to write, film and produce a special public service announcement (PSA) related to the NPS "Find Your Park" initiative. They worked with two separate media production companies to learn about the pre-production process, filming and editing. Each also filmed and produced an individual interview segment for the National Park Service's "Find Your Park" initiative.
The videos are hosted on the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial's YouTube channel.
In addition to the film projects, Dylan and Symphonie assisted with planning, preparation and presentation of a one-week YMCA camp program at the South City YMCA and weekly Free Family Friday programs at the Old Courthouse. All of the programs were active, hands-on experiences and Kiefer and Cameron were very helpful with set-up and presentations.
