MRH High School Welcomes Foreign Exchange Student
This semester, Maplewood Richmond Heights High School welcomed a foreign exchange student from Sierra Leone, West Africa. Winnie Daboh arrived in the United States earlier this year and dove right into American culture, which included witnessing how a normal MRH school day happens and jumping into activities such as soccer, volleyball, and even “Trick or Treating”.
Since Daboh felt that she was warmly welcomed at MRH, she offered to return the favor, and give the community a glimpse into her world. She held a special conversation with students and staff at MRH, sharing what life is like in her hometown, across the globe. Daboh dressed in traditional West African garments and shared what a day in her life is like. She painted a picture for the audience depicting different foods, clothing and practices that she experiences on a daily basis. Students and staff were eager to learn more and asked questions that helped them understand their classmate/student on a deeper level.
