MRH Wrestling Team Gives Back
This past Saturday the Maplewood Richmond Heights High School Wrestling Team completed their annual community service project. This year they chose to assist in the St. Louis Arc soccer league. While at Sugar Creek Park in Des Peres, the wrestling team and coaches assisted in teaching soccer drills and even participating in a scrimmage alongside the St. Louis Arc players.
The St. Louis Arc is a nonprofit, United Way agency that provides support and services to more than 3,500 adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families, throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.
"Thanks so much to the Maplewood Richmond Heights Wrestling Team for volunteering with one of the St. Louis Arc’s Soccer League last weekend. I’ve already received so many phone calls about how much the athletes enjoyed having the team scrimmaging with them," said Sarah Smith, Coordinator of Volunteers & Community Outreach.
Trey Williams (senior) shared "The experience was fun. I loved working with this group, they even showed us a thing or two about soccer."
Matt Green (junior) added "It was a lot of fun and I'm glad we went. It was a new experience for all of us. We got to meet new people and had fun doing it."
