WEEKLY LEARNING: MS End of the Year Edition
As their middle school experience winds down and they begin looking ahead towards high school, 8th grade students have been reflecting on their academic and personal lives by identifying defining moments. Defining moments are events that change a person’s life and are remembered forever. Sometimes a defining moment is big, and sometimes it’s small. These moments may provide important life lesson, or even shift the way a person thinks.
Throughout the year, students have identified the defining moments of others through poems and short stories, and now they’re tasked with illustrating their own defining moment through the creation of a digital story. Students began by authoring a narrative essay explaining their defining moment. They then worked to edit and revise their essays based on written and verbal feedback provided by peers. Currently students are in the process of using WeVideo to create a visual representation of their narrative. As part of the process, students completed storyboards outlining their video sequence, recorded voice overlays, and uploaded music and pictures to complement their stories. A selection of defining moments videos will premier at the 8th grade graduation on Wednesday, May 18th!
