MRH Teacher Receives Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award
This year, Maplewood Richmond Heights Early Childhood Center Teacher, Olivia Strazewski, was named ECC/District Teacher of the Year. In addition to that recognition, this past Sunday, she also received the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. University of Missouri-St. Louis’ Emerson Award recognizes and honors exceptional efforts in the education field. This award highlights the achievements of teachers who play a vital role in the shaping of students' lives.
Dr. Hebenstreit, MRH ECC Principal shares “Olivia is a teacher who demonstrates great passion in her work, consistently goes above and beyond, is a model of teaching excellence, and embraces professional development as a way to build instructional capacity.” She goes on to say “Olivia is tireless in her efforts to improve the lives of the children and without exception believes in every child she teaches. Olivia works from a place of positive regard believing that each child has goodness inside and sees it as her responsibility to create the conditions where each child can flourish. Academically, she works diligently to ensure she is teaching at a child’s cutting edge. Through continuous reflection and modification of instruction, she creates an optimum learning environment for each child.”
Strazewski has been with MRH for five years and is the Kindergarten/1st grade looping teacher.
